About IGC- 2027

The Indian Geotechnical Conference (IGC) is the annual national flagship event of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS), established in 1948 and affiliated with the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (ISSMGE) since its inception. Indian Geotechnical Conference (IGC) is an annual conference organised by Indian Geotchnical Society, it is one largest Civil Engineering conference held in India every year. The conference serves as a key platform for researchers, academicians, engineers, and industry professionals to present and discuss advancements in geotechnical engineering, including topics such as soil mechanics, foundation engineering, rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, and sustainable infrastructure development. The Indian Geotechnical Confernce - 2027 (IGC-2027) will be organised by IGS Patna Chapter in association with IIT Patna and NIT Patna. The host institute of IGC - 2027 is IIT Patna.

Geotechnics for Sustainable Development

Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Patna in collaboration with IGS Patna Chapter conducted a one-day workshop on “Geotechnics for Sustainable Development” on 3rd December 2024.

More than 100 participants attended the workshop in person from various engineering colleges, universities, industry, and government departments of Bihar. Additionally, 20 participants attended the workshop online from different parts of the country.

Microzonation of a City

Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Patna in collaboration with IGS Patna Chapter conducted a one-day workshop on “Microzonation of a City for Better Preparedness during an Earthquake” on 19th January 2025.

ASAGE 2025

Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Patna in collaboration with IGS Patna Chapter conducted an international conference on “Advances in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering (ASAGE’25)” at IIT Patna from 6th to 8th February 2025.

ICGEID 2024

Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Patna in collaboration with IGS Patna Chapter conducted the “2nd International Conference on Geotechnical Issues in Energy, Infrastructure and Disaster Management (ICGEID 2024)” during 18–20 January 2024.

About 500 participants from various countries and different parts of India attended the conference. Among the dignitaries, the Honourable Governor of Sikkim graced the closing ceremony.

How To Reach

IIT Patna is one of eight 2nd generation IITs established in 2008. The campus spreads over 501 acres at Bihta, around 20 miles from Patna. It takes about 1 hour from Patna Airport (expected to reduce after 2026).

By Air

Fly to Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport (PAT), Patna. Hire a taxi or cab to IIT Patna, Bihta.

By Car

Drive via NH139 or NH19. From Delhi: ~945 km (~12 hrs).

By Bus

Bus to Patna Bus Stand, then local bus or cab to Bihta.

By Train

Train to Patna Junction → Bihta Station → Auto/Taxi (~5 km).

Facilities & Accommodations

IIT Patna Guest House has 72 rooms (single, double & suites) with a total capacity of 120. Facilities include common & VIP dining halls and conference rooms.

The campus has three boys’ hostels, one girls’ hostel, and one married scholar hostel. Due to December holidays, sufficient accommodation will be available for students.
